AI Innovation Consultant & Developer

Jewel Software is an innovative, internationally growing scale-up that develops software which makes a difference in day-to-day operations. From waste collection and street cleansing to winter- and grounds maintenance, our solutions help organisations in these essential sectors work more intelligently and efficiently every day.

We move quickly and use the latest technologies, including leading the way in image recognition for public spaces. We listen carefully to the people who use our software because we believe technology should support people, not replace them. This results in intuitive, user-friendly solutions that simplify complex activities, improve collaboration and contribute to cleaner, safer and more sustainable living environments. In doing so, we work according to our core values: integrity, ambition and innovation.

Job Description

Jewel Software is facing an important next step: making AI a structural part of our day-to-day business operations. We already use AI, but see further opportunities throughout the organisation to make processes faster, smarter and better. This is not about achieving minor efficiency gains, but about developing solutions that make a real difference.

As an AI Innovation Consultant & Developer, you will have the freedom and responsibility to accelerate this development. You will identify promising opportunities within Sales, Customer Success, Support, Development, Finance, HR and other areas of Jewel. You will translate these into concrete AI applications, automations and agents, which you will build, test and implement yourself. You will then measure the results and optimise the solutions when this is necessary. You will work closely with the management team, process owners and colleagues throughout the organisation. You can consult with our Developers on technical matters when you need support.

Key responsibilities

  • Identifying opportunities: Together with colleagues, you will investigate where AI and automation can have the greatest impact across the organisation. You will distinguish between ideas that sound promising but are not worth pursuing and opportunities that deliver real value.
  • Building AI solutions: You will translate opportunities into functional AI applications, workflows and agents. You will build and connect solutions, experiment with new models and methods, and test them in practice. Based on the results, you will make adjustments and measure their impact. If something does not work, you will learn from it and come up with new ideas.
  • Sharing knowledge: You will keep up to date with relevant developments at OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind, as well as within the open-source community. You will explain complex AI-related topics in an understandable way and help colleagues use new applications in their daily work.
  • Ensuring responsible use: You understand the limitations of AI, know when human judgement is necessary and ensure that applications comply with relevant laws and regulations, including the AI Act.

You will join an AI-minded organisation where your colleagues are keen to move forward and eager to hear your ideas. You will directly influence how Jewel operates and develops. We honestly cannot imagine a more exciting role.

Function Requirements

You are extremely curious about AI and follow developments not only out of professional necessity, but because of a genuine interest. You think in terms of processes and results rather than from the perspective of one specific tool. You do not wait for a fully developed roadmap, but conduct your own research, build a solution and show us what is possible.

You have sufficient technical knowledge and aptitude to develop AI solutions independently, but are mainly interested in the human and organisational aspects. You enjoy working on several initiatives simultaneously and are accustomed to delivering concrete operational results.

What else do you bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s level of working and thinking. A degree in Technology Management, Artificial Intelligence or similar would be a good fit, but demonstrable results are more important than a specific educational background.
  • Experience with AI applications, automations and agents that you have built and implemented yourself.
  • Experience with LLM’s, prompt engineering, agentic engineering, RAG-systems and tools/frameworks such as n8n, Make, Zapier and LangChain would be highly beneficial. However, we consider your ability to acquire new knowledge and skills even more important.
  • The ability to analyse business processes, identify opportunities for improvement and manage projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Dutch is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Work Agreements

You will join an innovative organisation with big ambitions and plans to conquer the world! We will continue to grow internationally over the coming years and offer you plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and advance your career. At the same time, we place considerable value on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

You will work in a close-knit team where we truly support one another. The atmosphere is informal and open, and you will have plenty of freedom and flexibility to organise your work in your own way. Your ideas will be valued and your contributions recognised. At Jewel, we are simply ourselves, and you are free to be yourself too. What else can you expect from us?

  • A gross monthly salary of € 5.000,- to € 6.500,- based on 40 hours per week at the start of your employment. Does this not match your expectations, but you have extensive experience? Then we are open to hearing your story.
  • A solid pension scheme and 28 days of annual leave based on 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility regarding where and when you work. You will work from our Wageningen office at least one day per week and coordinate the remainder based on what is needed to achieve results together.
  • All the equipment you need, including a laptop of your choice, and high-quality tools to perform your work.
  • A one-year employment contract, with the prospect of a permanent contract afterwards.
  • Plenty of room for personal and professional development, including a budget for training courses and conferences.
  • A modern office in Wageningen with a comfortable workplace and well-prepared lunches every day.
